Behind Stellaer 212

With over 50 years of experience in the aviation industry, David Mahon and David Hickey have had in-depth experience in both commercial and private aviation. Founding the company in 2021, David and Dave have looked to provide a much-needed private jet charter and aircraft management option in the Irish market based at the newly developed 5-star Dublin Weston airport. Customers can transit through the airport terminal in a matter of minutes or enjoy some time in our bespoke private lounges

David Mahon

David launched his career in frontline operations, quickly advancing to senior leadership roles within esteemed commercial airlines and international ground handling companies. His early emphasis on operational excellence established a strong foundation, allowing him to seamlessly transition into corporate safety and compliance management. Throughout his career, David has excelled at building high-performance teams, overseeing operations in over 90 airports and managing a diverse workforce of more than 5,000 employees across the globe.

In 2018, David embraced the challenges of a start-up environment, leading the initiative to establish an international white-tail ACMI capacity provider. His strategic leadership during the tumultuous period of the pandemic was crucial in stabilizing the airline, demonstrating his resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to success.

In early 2021, David co-founded Stellar 212 with David Hickey, a partnership born from their shared vision at the previous start-up. Identifying a significant gap in the market, they aimed to create a bespoke private jet service specifically tailored to the underserved Dublin region. Their relentless pursuit of excellence and dedication to customer-centric service have been the driving forces behind Stellar 212's rapid growth and success.

Today, with a fleet operating from Dublin, London, and a seasonal presence in the south of France, David has transformed Stellar 212 into a thriving bespoke private charter company. The business is well-positioned for continued expansion, with exciting plans for fleet delivery and capacity growth slated for 2025.

David holds a BSc in Business and Law from Technological University Dublin, as well as an Executive MBA from Dublin City University. He is a licensed EASA Commercial Pilot and actively flies Stellar 212's Pilatus PC12 fleet, embodying his passion for aviation. Residing in Dublin, David enjoys a fulfilling family life with his wife, Andrea, and their two daughters, who continually inspire him to pursue excellence in all his endeavors.

David Hickey

With over 25 years of rich experience in the aviation industry, Captain David Hickey has established himself as a distinguished leader in both private and commercial air operations. He began his career in private air charter, where he honed his skills in line flying a variety of aircraft, primarily catering to high-net-worth individuals seeking personalized charter services.

Between 2016 and 2020, David made a strategic transition to larger airline operations, where he played a pivotal role in the development of a start-up airline. As a senior manager from 2018 to 2020, he was instrumental in navigating the complexities of launching a new airline in a competitive market, demonstrating his adeptness at fostering growth and innovation.

In early 2021, David co-founded Stellar 212 alongside David Mahon, recognizing an untapped opportunity for a bespoke private jet service in Dublin. Situated at Weston Dublin Airport, Ireland’s only dedicated executive airport, Stellar 212 quickly emerged as a premier provider of personalized private jet services. Under David's leadership, the company has expanded its operations to include aircraft based in Dublin, London, and a seasonal fleet in the south of France, addressing the needs of an underserved market. With ambitious plans for fleet expansion in 2025, David is committed to driving Stellar 212's continued success.

David holds EASA, CAA, and FAA (ATPL) licenses and boasts extensive ratings across a diverse array of aircraft, including the PC-12 NGX/NG, CRJ1000, ATR 42/72, CE550, and various light twin-engine models. His passion for flying remains unwavering, as he actively pilots Stellar 212's Pilatus PC12 fleet.

Residing in Dublin, David balances his professional pursuits with a fulfilling family life. His dedication to aviation, coupled with his commitment to providing exceptional service, positions him as a visionary leader in the industry, continually striving for excellence and innovation in every endeavor.
